Rebel's mind was somewhere else. It had been a week since her dream about Breden. But since then he had not left her thoughts. Who and what was he? Why was it so easy for her to see right through his tricks. Why did she feel like this for him? And what of her feels for Pete. Was this dream guy even real? Or just a dream messing with her. So many thoughts ran through her head. She did what she always did. She wrote them into a song.

It was two in the morning and everyone had already clear out after the last band had played. Only the staff remained. Rebel walked upstairs. Her tennis shoes were slow on the black and white check tile in front of the stage. There was trash everywhere and the staff was working hard to clean it it.

"Hey you can't be here." The owner said.

"It's me Rebel."

"Oh sorry. You want to use the stage again don't you."

"Yes if that is alright. I have this song I need to get out of my system."

"Sure. We will be downstairs if you need anything. Everything is still hot so go for it."

"Thanks." She made her way to the side stairs and on stage. She grabbed an acoustic guitar and walked in front of the mic. The room was empty now and dark. Only one spotlight shown on her.  She wrote this song about her dream and the man, well she was not even sure of that, in the dream.

She started to play her song, Decode. When she got to the words "Why don't you show yourself," She sang it harder. Feeling everything she had felt this week.

     Since the dream, Brendon hadn't been his usual self. His mind was clouded with thoughts of her. He was determined to find this girl. His rose. His mirror image. His Rebel. For days he'd wandered the busy streets of Chicago, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. Even his underlings were beginning to take notice of a change in him, but still he ruled without question and was undoubtedly determined to keep it that way. He had an idea of where she might have been, but finding a way to see her wasn't easy, not with those Youngblood pests in the way. On the day he walked into the Subterranean and ordered a beer, he was so very frustrated with his search. Was this one female worth all the trouble? She was so very much like him, it was rare and strange and magnificent how fate had brought them together, but no one had gone through this much trouble for him. Why should he have to struggle so for one mortal? As he tipped the bottle to his lip he heard a familiar voice and immediately set the bottle down.

Could it be?

     He quickly followed after it, seeking out the source. When he finally found it, he was astonished. More than astonished, he was in awe, reminded of why he'd searched. He stood back in the shadows and just out of view, listening to her beautiful voice. Somewhere within that spark of humanity sprang to life oncemore and he found himself genuinely smiling, extremely amused with her amazing voice. What was happening to him? Why was he feeling this way? And how? Demons were agents of chaos with twisted and rotten souls if they were lucky to have them still enact and in recent times he'd proven this fact rather effectively. How he was feeling anything was a mystery, an impossibility, but looking at her on that stage singing her own heart out to a crowd of one, silently observing from a far, he got his answer.

What would Pete think of her and this dream guy. She had told Pete she had to go back to the shelter to get some of her things. Which was true but she made a side trip afterwards to here.
Rebel continued to sing unaware that she had an audience. And that the audience of one was the man she was singing about. She moved the hair from her face. The last of her song was what hit the most. She thought what he would think if he heard it. 

What kind of man that you are

Well, I will figure this one out

I'm screaming, "Breden I love you so!

Rebel stopped playing and  sat the guitar back where she found it. When she turned around a noise made her jump. Her eyes went wide when she saw who she was looking at.

     Brendon was enchanted by her voice. Soon enough he understood that this song was for him and he felt extremely flattered. When she'd finished her song, he couldn't resist the urge to give her a strong round of applause, even if it was just him in the empty crowd. When she began to take note of his presence, he stepped from the shadows with a smile, the very same smile he'd shared with her in the dream.

    "Not bad at all. Whoever that song is for is a pretty lucky person." He smirked, happy that he'd found her at last.

     How odd a feeling it was, to experience this sort of genuine happiness outside of dreams. These feelings were for the mortals, those with souls and hearts that functioned properly. Somehow though, there those feelings were. She was a miracle, a miracle he'd do his best to keep.

The sound of his clapping made her jump. It was him. He was real. Her dream man was real. "Breden." She blushed. She ran down the stairs across the black and white floor and slammed into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him placing her head on his shoulder. He was cold but she found comfort in that. Her skin was warmer them most and his cold body gave her peace. Steam rose from the contracts in skin temperatures.

She did not want to pull away from him, but then it hit her. They had just met and he may think she was going to fast. Problem was she was already out of control. Maybe his mind control was still working on her? But it was more to do with the fact she did not have to hold back the way she did with Pete. He could control her flame. "Am sorry." She said as she pulled away. "I just wanted to see if you were real. I started writing that song when I woke up a week ago. You know how to make an impression."

     When he had her in his arms for a moment, he was caught off guard. In that moment he was concerned he wouldn't have been able to keep up the image of someone human, but he didn't want to be separate from her either. It took him a while to realize and accept the truth as she broke their short embrace. They'd only just met. If he wanted any chance at her heart, he'd at least try going about it the right way before considering the alternative.

     He smiled at her as she began to blush. She looked so beautiful under those stage lights. "There's no need to be sorry. I'm not." He gave a slight nod to the stage she'd been on recently. "And you aren't too bad at making impressions either. I gotta say, that's a pretty sweet voice you've got there."

"Thank you. Singing helps get out my feelings that are so confusing in my mind. So you could guess what has been going on in my mind. It has been a week. I did not think you were real. I mean I guy I never met before shows up in a dream. Now am looking at you in real life. And you, wait you know about my dream too, don't you? You know what am talking about. So you did control it, why. Why me?" She moved her hair out of her eyes. And found herself looking into his. The same eyes that she loved in her dream. "Why some homeless street trash who can make sparks?"

She felt at peace with him. She could let her guard down and know if her flame got too dangerous he could pull it back, before she would hurt anyone. Breden was her safety net. Rebel looked down. First Pete and now Breden. Pete was half vampire and Breden was? She kind of guess but was not sure. She did some research and giving what he could do she had a good guess.

     The inner debate started the moment she'd asked him why he'd visited her. It wasn't as if he could simply tell her he'd visited her for information on the Young Bloods, but because of the way he felt he couldn't entirely lie either. The dilemma was finding a way around it, but being a demon gave him an edge. "I tend to drift between dreams. When I stumbled on your little nightmare, I decided to step in and have a little chat." He couldn't resist throwing in a wink as he spoke. "Best decision I ever made."

     It hadn't been a lie entirely, everything he'd said was true. Was it so wrong he'd held out on a few pieces of information? And if so, why should he care?

"Am glad you did to. So you just jump in peoples dreams, right." She could tell he was hiding something. Just like in the dream it came so easy for her to know when he was putting up a front. "Breden you don't have to hide anything from me. I just found you and am not going anywhere, demon or not." She closed her eyes for a moment when she realized she had let slip what she thought he was. "I know. You can control dreams, your eyes are not like a vampires. You have this inner wickedness when you smile. Which I love. And you just love to bend the truth. Am I right." She smiled at him, crossing her arms at her chest.
